Canterbury Tales

Yesterday I went to Canterbury and to Rochester with the Merton Chapel trip - we visited Rochester Cathedral (founded in the 7th century!) and Rochester Castle (very impressive!) and then went on to Canterbury, which is still a walled town, with lots of narrow streets, overhanging buildings and shops, and a vast, beautiful cathedral in the middle of it all. The subject of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, and the seat of the head of the Anglican Church, it is a very impressive edifice - the nave is huge, with soaring columns, the crypt is beautiful - a great place for prayer and meditation - and the towers and the choir and the stained glass are very beautiful. Enjoy the pictures...I certainly enjoyed the trip. What made it even better was attending a service in Canterbury Cathedral with a massed choir singing lots of the Psalms...it was really great.

There is something very Heavenly about worshipping in a great cathedral, mass choirs and different colours of light beaming through the windows. Sounds beautiful...really enjoyed those cantebury pics! Blessings for this week my friend, R
